The Blood Countess, Bathory. Apparently someone is finally making this movie. This movie that I’ve been waiting around for years for someone to make. I guess it’s a Czech, Hungarian, Slovakian, and UK production, so the screening options in the states might be questionable. And the movie might simply suck (pun totally intended), in a straight-to-dvd fashion. Either way, i think i’ll see it. I mean, it almost seems like it would be impossible to go wrong when the main character is a mad, nymphomaniacle, blood-thirsty, witchcraft practicing countess who locks naked servant girls up in iron maidens. Bordering on sadistic pornography? Yes. But remember, if the costumes and accents are authentic enough, and those torture scenes are rendered with soft, tasteful lighting, it’s safe to call it art.
